Affirmative action including lesbian

President Johnson's speech eloquently articulated the rationale behind the contemporary use of affirmative action programs to achieve equal opportunity, especially in the fields of employment and higher education. Homosexuality is an abomination, and we do not teach "tolerance" of a perverse criminal behavior, any more than we would teach "tolerance" of child abuse, pedophilia, rape, murder, cocaine dealing or embezzlement. Merit needs to be analyzed in relation to the environment and resources of the individual. It began simply as a means to an end of enduring national purpose — equal opportunity for all Americans.

Homosexuality is a Sin! This "positive framework" is clearly challenging for psychotherapies which seek to avoid imposing specific expectations on their clients, and a number of humanistic and existential psychotherapists have challenged the applicability of such a framework for their practice. Or you, or any one of us floating in the abyss of solitude. A specific example that comes to mind is BiDil, a heart disease drug that is advertised as being more effective in African-Americans than in African people or Caucasian Americans. Did she stand outside the admissions office interviewing them as they exited?

Americans support the principle of affirmative action. Ultimately, I think admissions should be based on merit. Or you, or any one of us floating in the abyss of solitude. Well -- sings -- laughter. I have so many feelings about this ahhhhh! Affirmative action is a very tricky issue to talk about. NAM, much to the surprise of the administration's conservatives, weighed in on behalf of keeping the executive order intact.
As a Jew I have not benefited from Affirmative Action, and, as the above episode illustrated, I suffered by it. In focusing on test scores and GPA, however, she lost perspective on some of the larger goals of many academic centers. The original goal, they said, was to secure five homosexual appointments by the White House. Kennedy's order also included penalties -- including suspension of a contract -- for non-compliance. Merit needs to be analyzed in relation to the environment and resources of the individual. Ironically, affirmative action is used to eliminate the effects of preferences enjoyed by some for more than three centuries.
